The Best Hotels to Book in Campinas, Brazil
Campinas is one of the most important commercial cities in São Paulo state, with an international airport, a large downtown financial center and a string of top universities, including one of the best research institutions in Latin America, UNICAMP. Also one of the wealthiest cities in Brazil, it is within commutable distance of its commercial capital São Paulo and, like that city, it grew wealthy during the early 20th century coffee boom. Campinas hotels tend to be clustered in the central business district and around Viracopos airport. Here the best of the bunch – all bookable with Culture Trip.
Royal Palm, for the kids to have fun
Resort
This sprawling resort sits right off the main interstate highway on the southern edge of downtown. It’s a good option for families who want to make day trips to the Hopi Hari theme park, a 20-minute drive away, and to have easy access to restaurants. There’s loads in store for young ones – a huge play area, seven swimming pools and a suite of restaurants with family-friendly menus. Rooms – from doubles to family-sized – are attractive hideaways with French doors and chintzy comforters. Get up in time for breakfast – it’s included in the room rate.
Easy airport access at Contemporaneo
Hotel
This budget Campinas business hotel is handily positioned, right off the interstate highway next to the principal business park – this means rapid access to the airport and the rest of the state, while you’re in easy reach of downtown restaurants and shops. Rooms are simple but well-kept and modern, in a scheme of light laminate woods and whites, with purple bed covers and modest but spacious workstations. Breakfast is included and the hotel restaurant serves economical food all day.
Cool pool relaxation at I am Design
Hotel
The best thing about this self-consciously swish Campinas hotel, on a leafy street in the Cambuí nightlife neighborhood, is the rooftop infinity pool. You could easily while away a few days here – lounging on the sundeck under planted royal palms. Gaze out at the urban skyline, mirrored in the Sapphire-blue water, and gradually drift off. Rooms – dressed in shades of cream with dashes of faux-leather – are comfy places, with large kitchen dining rooms, tile and marble bathrooms and big decks with a view.
Mercure, for top skyline views
Hotel
Hotels in Campinas don’t come with better skyline views than the Mercure. Rooms on the upper floors look through tall windows over the business center and the serrated skyline to distant, forested hills. Decor is modern and minimalist – with blocks of light grey and dark woods offset by dark woods and splashes of business-suit-blue from cushions and lounge chairs. Facilities are good and include a rooftop swimming pool and fitness center with a view, onsite parking and big breakfasts. In short – this place is the business.
The perfect stopover at Park Tower
Business Hotel
This budget business hotel, with its rooftop pool, is perfectly situated for a stopover-stay – it’s tucked away on a leafy street in the city center, just five minutes’ cab ride from the bus station and next to the Aquidabã urban highway – for quick access to the main interstates and São Paulo city. Rooms are simple spaces in stark white with diminutive little workstations. Some have separate lounge-dining areas with kitchenettes and dining tables.
Melia, for excellent facilities
Hotel
The Melia offers value business stays in an enviable location – in the heart of the upmarket Cambuí neighborhood, close to fashionable shops and restaurants. Rooms are corporate-functional with large work desks and anonymous abstract wall art. Top tip – upgrade to an upper-floor grand premium room for wall-high windows and city skyline views. Facilities are good for a hotel in this price range and include a fitness center with sauna and a large, heated pool. Make the most of it.
Great value for money at Monreale Express Glicério
Hotel
In this downtown Campinas hotel, next to Nossa Senhora do Carmo basilica, you’ll find comfy, unobtrusively decorated rooms in calming shades of contemporary greys and creams, offset by wood paneling and bright scatter cushions. The great-value prices include a large buffet breakfast – served in an open-plan dining area decorated with bright murals. There’s a scattering of restaurants on the doorstep and the fashionable nightlife neighborhood of Cambuí is a five-minute cab ride away.
