The Best Restaurants In Condado, San Juan
Condado is known as one of San Juan’s coolest neighborhoods. Boutiques, resort hotels, bars and clubs all feature here, as do some of Puerto Rico’s most innovative restaurants. With some of the best chefs in the world serving food in Condado, you can’t make a bad choice with any dining experience. Here are 10 restaurants you should especially check out.
Casa Lola
Start your meal with Casa Lola’s sangria, which is far more than just wine and fruits and has even come in second place at the Puerto Rico Sangria Festival! Although the menu has some Puerto Rican classics, everything has it’s own spin and is always presented beautifully. And as it’s open to 1am every day, no matter when you find yourself in Condado it can always been sangria time!
Perla
For a special night out in Puerto Rico, make sure you call Perla to reserve a table. This luxury seafood restaurant has spectacular interiors, softly lit by eight beautiful Murano glass lamps, casting turquoise sea patterns over the shell walls. The decadent menu serves sophisticated contemporary cuisine alongside a superb wine list. Perla’s wine cellar contains a staggering 4000 bottles! The architecture is as amazing as the food.
Yerba Buena
Learn the real difference between Puerto Rican and Cuban food first hand by visiting Yerba Buena. With a reputation as the original home of the Mojito cocktail, this lively, modern restaurant serves all manner of Caribbean fare including pumpkin fritters and mofongos (mashed, fried plantain). With large portion sizes it might be good to bring a group of friends to share. If you’re there for dinner on a weekend, make sure you stick around for the Cuban live music events, perfect with even more mojitos!
Buenos Ayres Bar and Grill
Get a little taste of Argentina during your trip by visiting Buenos Ayres. They can create magic with their red meats, so anything from the grill menu is good, but we particularly recommend the churrasco or chorizo dishes. The menu also includes Argentinean empanadas (fried sweet or savory stuffed pastries), pastas and dulce de leche crepes for dessert!
Kasalta
Kasalta is beloved by locals and is a great place to have your weekend brunches. It’s a few blocks from the beach and many people say it has some of the best coffee around. In addition to the variety of pastries, great coffee and toasted breakfast sandwiches you can also try the caldo gallego (traditional Galician soup) or the octopus salad while you’re there. It has even been frequented by US President Obama, which tells you something about its notoriety, great food and friendly service.
Budatai
Budatai fuses Asian and Puerto Rican cuisine for a memorable dining experience, and with Chef Treviño in the kitchen you know you’re in for a treat. The interiors try their hardest to capture the essence of Asian dining, with oriental colors and Buddha statues dotted around. The menu is a combination of creativity and crisp flavors. And with regular live music and dance nights, including Spanish Flamenco and Cuban Salsa, the atmosphere sizzles just as much as the dishes!
1919
With its elegant oceanfront setting and the overall historical setting in the Vanderbilt Hotel, 1919 offers an exciting yet modern dining experience. With a 4 course prix fixe dinner menu allowing you the chance to taste a little bit of everything, this really is the upscale world of Puerto Rican dining. Perfect for rounding off your trip in style.
