It’s not just the location on the main drag that makes the Boardwalk Plaza Hotel a hot pick. Your getaway without the kids grants you access to the Concierge Level suites, where you’ll sip morning coffee in the garden and pamper yourself with spa treatments on the rooftop sundeck. You’ll pray for a chilly night just to savor the warmth of the boardwalk fire pits at the Plaza Pub. Plus the main pool becomes an adults-only affair at night, when the whirlpool jets and poolside cocktails make everything a little bubbly.

Beach Boutique Hotel

So yes, the Beach Boutique Hotel is a 10-minute drive to the shoreline, but spacious and homey double queen rooms, an outdoor pool and complimentary breakfast are just a sample of the many redeeming qualities here. You’ve also got the Tanger Outlets for big brand shopping, the Kings Creek Country Club for 18 holes of fun, and Jungle Jim’s waterpark, which we don’t need to tell you the kids will love. You can also create your own little pub crawl at the Iron Hill and Revelation brewing companies – bottoms up!

Homestead Bed & Breakfast at Rehoboth

Bed and Breakfast

Remove yourself from the worries of life at Homestead B&B. Four miles (6km) from the beach, Homestead tucks you away in a residential area where you are free to read a book on the wraparound porch with a wine, coffee or iced tea in hand. If your four-legged friend needs a little R&R too, they’ll have plenty of room to run in the expansive fenced pet area before cooling down with a doggie bath at the special washing station.

Brighton Suites Hotel

Three minutes is all it’ll take your kids to run from Brighton Suites Hotel to Funland on the boardwalk. Thank goodness for the coffee maker in your suite. Before they race out the door, hand them the complimentary beach towels and chairs so they can do the heavy lifting for you. They’ll hit the arcade; you’ll lounge a few steps away on the sand. Cloudy days won’t rain on their parade, as the glass-encased indoor pool is open year round.

The Bellmoor Inn & Spa

Forgive us – we can’t seem to recall if it was the Bellmoor hot stone massage, the French vanilla latte scrub or the sea spa mani/pedi that made us feel in heaven at the Bellmoor Inn & Spa. Better book all three, just to be safe. Any minutes away from the spa should be spent in the hot tub, unless of course you’re riding the Bellmoor Shuttle to the boardwalk.

Canalside Inn

Who said water views were reserved for the ocean only? Some rooms at the Canalside Inn overlook the leafy Lewes-Rehoboth Canal. You’re only 1mi (1.6km) from the beach, which feels a lot closer when you’ve got a complimentary rental bike. Take the long way to popular Poodle Reach by riding through the residential streets, so you can take in more serene water views at the Silver Lake State Bird Refuge. Ride back to Canalside Inn, snuggle up in a terry cloth robe and raid the snacks in your minibar.

Ocean Glass Inn

It’s a straight shot down the 1A from Ocean Glass Inn to the beach, but getting there may not be as simple as it seems. Your condo living room deck may turn your quick cup of coffee into a long morning of relaxation. When you start your 1mi (1.6km) walk to the beach, curiosity might lead you into the Historical Society museum, before the smell of seafood lures you into Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls. Finally at the shore, you’ll keep an eye on the time so you don’t miss out on the lively reception hour back at the hotel.

Atlantic View Hotel

Atlantic View Hotel is not far from the Rehoboth Beach boardwalk, but the popular throughway will only be one small highlight of your trip. This Dewey Beach hotel wakes you up with a complimentary breakfast then lures you back from the beach for afternoon wine and cheese. With the sand just footsteps away, the only time you’ll need to buckle up is when you want to take a quick drive down the Coastal Highway for a hike through the Burton Island Nature Preserve.
