A Secret Volcanic Rock Pool Is Hiding in This Place You've Never Heard Of

No seriously, you’ve never heard of it because it’s proper secret.

Hello Aruba! One of the lesser explored islands of the Caribbean is home to a rather glorious, and very secret rock pool.

Known as the ‘Conchi natural pool,’ it’s only accessible via horseback (fancy), by all-terrain vehicle or good old fashioned hiking. A far cry from the south side of the island, which is chock full of hotels and restaurants, the north side (where the lovely little pool is located) is more for your rough adventurer – the thrill seekers in other words. Why? It’s pretty windy and is surf beach boy nirvana.

According to Travel + Leisure, locals guides say the rock pool was created roughly 90 million years ago when oodles of deep sea volcanoes erupted eventually forming what we know today as the rather lovely little island paradise of Aruba.

The small rocky puddle of water can squeeze in up to 12 people and is the ideal spot for a splash about or free spa day – prosecco in hand, of course. Oh, and there’s plenty of chances to get up close and personal with the marine life within. Don’t worry, Jaws is nowhere to be found – although it did cross our minds…

Gorgeous it may be, some wanderlusters can’t be bothered to visit, because of the effort. So if you are in the mood for a little seclusion it’s a fabulous spot to unwind in. If you are one of those who is already thinking: ‘oh wow, it looks stunning, but I’d rather stay sipping Pina Coladas by the hotel pool’, let us try and persuade you to ditch Club Tropicana and go on an adventure.

Filled with rocky peaks and hundreds of stunning landmarks, you’ll be left hashtagging for days as your Instagram shots will put everybody else’s to shame.

Off you go.
